A Legacy of Leadership
A lifelong servant leader, Ryan H. Dodd ’96 enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserves during his senior year at Mount de Sales. He went on to graduate from Mercer University and Mercer Law School, later earning an advanced degree in environmental law from the University of Georgia School of Law. He served as an officer in the U.S. Army JAG Corps before beginning a civilian career with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, where he currently serves as a General Attorney and Acting Veterans Law Judge. Ryan and his wife, Dr. Sarah D. Norton, are active in advocacy and philanthropy supporting veterans, disability rights, environmental preservation, and the arts.
In gratitude for the lasting influence of the leadership he saw modeled at MDS—particularly from Sister Mary Rosina Bayliss, R.S.M. and Coach Chester Pierce—Ryan has made plans for a bequest to the Academy. Their example, combined with the values instilled during his years as a Cavalier, inspired Ryan and Sarah to make this extraordinary commitment to future generations of students. The Dodds’ gift will support Mount de Sales in cultivating, retaining, and recognizing dedicated faculty, staff, and coaches.
As we reflect on 150 years of Mount de Sales, we are reminded that the school endures because of the generosity that flows from gratitude for the love we have received. Consider a gift in honor of your own Mount de Sales experience, in tribute to a beloved teacher or family member, or as a sign of gratitude for the scholarship you received. It’s as simple as adding a few specific words to your will or trust.
Let us honor your legacy.
